One of the actions which an art teacher took as part of her enquiry. She realized that her KS3 pupils believed you were either good or bad at art so she invited a sixth form student to come and present to the class a series of self portraits from age 11 to age 17 to show how practicing and improving meant she got a lot better!
This teacher was looking at how to improve pupil engagement with words - it led her to develop a parent reading program alongside 'word detectives' where students seek out interesting words or phrases and then use them in their own writing the following week - she was so positive and really inspired some of the other people to trial it in their classes!
This teacher was presenting his work on aspirations. The scanning phase revealed a gender imbalance in student aspirations (e.g. builders for boys and ballerinas for girls). They have been doing some work around helping pupils to see lots of variety of potential jobs and helping them to make informed choices by bringing local people in etc.
