Case studies are rich sources of data, capturing both the process of inquiry with regard to a school’s particular focus for improvement, as well as the learning and observations obtained throughout the journey.
2019/2020 Case Studies
Focus: Gr. 8 students’ writing skills in note making and using their own words, as well as teacher candidates’ skills in providing written feedback to learners, applying a proficiency scale and analyzing the development of one specific formative assessment.
Focus: To continue to grow our knowledge of mathematical instruction (year 2), focusing in on how we can teach/assess the curricular competencies with the intention of deepening our students’ understanding of number sense and making our instruction accessible for all learners.
Focus: On the staff, to reflect upon their program and transition towards an experiential program which promotes growth mindset. We also wanted to support the staff.
Focus: On continuing to teach math cyclically, focusing on depth of knowledge and understanding, while incorporating more place-based learning and culture into math, transitioning from grade 7 to high school, and supporting families.
Focus: To increase a sense of belonging amongst learners in our Middle Years wing, through a more consistent advisory/CREW time program in all classes.
Focus: To enhance transition success through more extensive connection with the high school transition team at the middle school level.
